the 10 rounds of Cub Prix for 2011

Fresh from the conclusion of
the 17th PETRONAS AAM
Malaysian Cub Prix
Championship in Penang last
December, event promoter
Safe Aim Mutual Sdn Bhd
(SAM) had already gone under
works and released its 2011
provisional race calendar
today.

For its 18th season, the Cub
Prix Championship returns
featuring another 10 exciting
rounds set to take place all
over Peninsular Malaysiaboth
on familiar and potentially
new venues- offering a
mixture of technical and high-
speed challenges to the teams
and riders.

In the first half of the season,
the race will flag off at Alor
Setar, Kedah on March 11 to
12 followed by Malacca
(Round 2) on the 26 to 27 of
the same month. Teluk Intan,
Perak will stage Round 3 on 16
to 17 April followed by
Stadium Batu Kawan (Round
4) on 14 to 15 of April while
the Sepang International
Circuit will host the fifth leg
on the 4 to 5 June.

The second half of the season
will take the championship to
Kuala Terengganu for Round 6
on the 24 to 25 of June with
the venue for Round 7 (July
23-24) yet to be determined.
Kluang, Johor will then host
Round 8 on 24 to 25
September, with the
penultimate round of the
season on November 12 to 13
at a venue to be announced at
a later date. The season is
currently scheduled to draw
its curtains at Penang ’s
historic Padang Kota Lama
from the 3 to 4 December.
Safe Aim Mutual Promotions
Director, Ron Hogg assured
2011 will be another great
year for everyone involved
and commented, “This year
the Championship returns with
another 10 rounds. In terms of
venue, we have a lot of
requests to go places and host
races but unfortunately not all
of it is suitable for Cub Prix
and we have to study
available options closely to
suit the contingent ’s needs.
However, this time around we
are looking to bring more
races to the east coast of the
peninsular. ”
Ron went on to add about his
expectations for the upcoming
season and said, “As for the
Championship, the one-make
races will take a serious step
further to train more young
riders and there will also be a
lot of movement between
teams and riders in the CP130,
CP115 and Wira categories.
Based on the increasing level
of competition across the
categories over the years, we
can already expect the 2011
season to be a fiercely
contested one, not just
amongst the existing pool of
riders but also with the young
talents coming into the
championship. On that note,
we will be making some
interesting announcements
regarding some changes as
the date of the flag-off closes
in. All in all, 2011 is sure to be
an exciting year for Cub Prix
enthusiasts ’ nationwide.”
concluded Ron.
